Chocolate Blueberry Recovery Smoothie

Ingredients

Almond Milk 1 cup

Blueberries 1/3 cup

Banana 1, frozen

Kale, small handful

Chocolate Whey Protein 1 scoop

Cacao Powder 2 tsp

Maca Powder 1 tsp

Dates 2 small

Salt, dash

Ice 1/2 cup

This smoothie is the perfect if you’re looking to recover after an intense workout and are in the mood for a fruity desert treat.

It’s got a mild chocolate, blueberry flavor, that tastes like a dark chocolate covered blueberry nut. The kind you’d get as an impulse purchase if your checking out at Marshalls.

As a post workout smoothie and its designed to help you recover and rebuild muscle after a hard workout. Cacao and Blueberries have excellent antioxidant properties and its got a good mix of fats, carbs and protein all under 500 calories. Even under 500 calories its got 29g of protein which is plenty to refuel your muscles for most.

This cool, icy smoothie has ten ingredients including superfoods like Cacao Powder, Maca, Kale and Whey Protein.

To make this smoothie, start by adding the Almond Milk. Then the solids, starting with frozen Banana, Blueberries, and Dates. Then add a handful of kale to get some veggies. Then add the Cacao, Maca, and Chocolate Whey Protein powder. Then top it off with a dash of Sea Salt and the ice. Blend for a bit, starting on a lower speed then working up to higher speeds to break the ice. Blend until all ingredients are mixed and you have a smooth consistency. Taste and add additional ingredients or more blueberries to taste.

Makes about one 20oz serving

Optional Super Boosts:

Add an extra scoop of whey protein powder to jack up the protein

Add a scoop of creatine for strength and muscle recovery

Add a 1/4 cup of oats to thicken it up and add some extra carbs to refuel

Add some peanut butter or almond butter too make it a chocolate PB&J
