Weight Loss
At under 200 calories, this smoothie can fit well into your diet especially if you have a weight loss goal. The ingredients are tasty, yet hydrating and filling enough to help with your appetite control and overall well being.
Hydration
Coconut water, strawberries and watermelon are excellent sources of hydration due to their high water content. Strawberries are composed of 92% water and watermelon has an even higher water content with 95% water! Combined these ingredients help replenish fluids and electrolytes, making them ideal for staying hydrated during hot weather or after physical activity.
Nutrients and Antioxidants
Watermelon, strawberries, bananas, and basil are all nutrient-dense ingredients. Watermelon and especially strawberries are great sources of vitamin C which acts as an antioxidant, supports immune function and aids in collagen synthesis. In fact, just 1 cup of strawberries is enough to provide 100% of your daily recommended value of vitamin C and 26% of your manganese. Bananas are a good source of potassium, vitamin B6, and dietary fiber. Basil is known for its vitamin K content, which helps with blood clotting and bone health. Basil also contains vitamin A which is good for vision, immune function, and skin health, and also small amounts of iron and calcium. Coconut water is a great low calorie, high electrolyte alternative to water.
Directions
To make this smoothie, start by adding the Coconut Water. Then add the 2 cups of freshly cut Watermelon. Next add frozen Strawberries and Banana to keep the smoothie nice a cold. Then grab few leaves of fresh basil and add them to your smoothie. Blend for a bit, starting on a lower speed then speed up as needed to break down the frozen fruit. Blend until all ingredients are blended and you have a liquid, icy consistency. Taste and add additional ingredients, like more basil to taste. Top off with some more Basil if you want.
Makes about one 20oz serving
Optional Super Boosts:
Add some extra basil mixed or on top to really make that basil taste pop
Add a scoop of Collagen Protein to support your skin, hair, and nails and for healthy joints and bones.
Add a squeeze of lemon for some zing and extra electrolytes and digestion support.
